I don’t ask for much in life because my father once told me, don’t always chase money. He said one simple person who does his job, earns enough to feed his family, takes care of them and eats with them, he is working as hard as any billionaire.
This thing stayed in my head. We think billionaires are working the hardest, but even a simple man who goes to work every day, comes home tired but still manages everything, he is also putting in the same effort. His life is not less.
Living a simple life never means you failed in your dreams. People around you will always make you feel like if you don’t have big money, big house, cars, or luxury, then you are behind in life. But I don’t believe that.
If the life you are living right now is giving you peace, calmness in your mind, and love from your family, then you are already ahead. You don’t need to prove it by chasing dreams of endless money.
Not everyone wants a rich or extravagant life. Some people only want to earn enough so they can take care of their needs properly. A roof on the head, food on the table, clothes on the body, and health in the family, that’s already enough for a happy life.
But we humans keep thinking more is better. The truth is, more is not always better. Sometimes more becomes a burden.
I grew up listening to this line - ”more money means more problems.” And I feel it is true.
When you earn more, you also get more stress. You become busy all the time handling money, worrying about where it is going, how to keep it safe, how to increase it more.
Your happiness and sadness start depending on money. If it is going good you feel happy, if it is going down you feel depressed. Slowly your whole life’s focus becomes only money.
But when you chase money too much, you lose everything else. You lose time with your family, you lose time to laugh with friends, you lose the simple joys. Life becomes a race, and you don’t even know where the finish line is.
That is not living, that is just running. Yes, money is important, but only up to a certain level. It should be enough to cover your needs and give you comfort. After that, the rest is just numbers.
Think for a second, the person who earns a normal salary, eats with his family, has time to play with his kids, talks with his wife or parents, sleeps peacefully at night, isn’t he rich? He is rich in the way that matters.
Because richness is not in the bank balance, it is in your daily life. What is the point of a big house if you are never at home? What is the use of millions if you cannot even enjoy a meal with your loved ones?
Sometimes the best life is the simple one. Waking up with no stress, doing your work honestly, coming home to people you love, and going to bed with peace in your heart. That kind of life is more valuable than any luxury.
So yes, my father was right. A simple life is not failure. It is success in its own way. If you have peace, mindfulness, and love around you, then you already have everything. Chasing endless money will never end, but living simply gives you real happiness.
