Lala Lajpat Rai Jayanti | A Wounded Lion

28 January 2023 – Best wishes on Lala Lajpat Rai Jayanti.

Roar of Wounded Lion

Lala Lajpat Rai‘ was one of the patriots whose sacrifices made our country free from the chains of slavery, due to whom India became independent despite many adversities and the country could breathe happiness. .

Between 1896 and 1908, there were several famines in North India. Seeing the people suffering due to famine, the Christian priests pretended to help them by getting the opportunity and started converting them to Christianity. Lalaji opposed this and established food fields and orphanages at various places.

At that time many movements were being run to free the land of India from the clutches of the British. Frightened by the increasing fame and influence of Punjab Kesari Lala Lajpat Rai, the British arrested him and imprisoned him in Burma jail. Lalaji remained in jail for one and a half year. At the same time, he wrote the famous three books – ‘Ashoka the Great,’ ‘Shri Krishna and his education‘ and ‘Chhatrapati Shivaji‘. After being released from prison, Lalaji completely abandoned his legal practice and devoted his whole time to the service of the nation.

Lalaji wanted that those youths who want to give or give their whole time for the service of the country, should be freed from the worry of maintaining the family. For this, he established an organization called ‘Lok Sevak Mandal‘. In 1928, Lalaji reached Lahore despite being ill to oppose the ‘Simon Commission’ sent by the British Government to India. Due to this the police got furious and started lathi-charge on the people. Lala Lajpat Rai was made a special target in this orgy of death.

Lalaji’s emaciated body could not bear the merciless lathis showered upon him by the cruel Britishers and the mortal body of this hero who sacrificed his everything for the cause of freedom left this divine land on November 17, 1928. With this, one more pearl was added to the garland of brave martyrs who sacrificed their lives for their motherland.

Actually it is the same thing that happened . After Lalaji’s martyrdom, Gandhiji also took forward his movement by giving the slogan of ‘Do or Die’. Anger spread among the public on Lalaji’s martyrdom and heroes like Subhash Chandra Bose, Chandrashekhar Azad and Bhagat Singh emerged and finally India got independence.

But just think to what extent we have been able to fulfill the dream of these brave martyrs who sacrificed their lives for the freedom of the country? How much have we respected their sacrifices?

In fact, we have not given any respect to the sacrifices of those immortal martyrs. That’s why even after 67 years of independence, our country is getting stuck in the slavery of western culture.

The true birth anniversary of these great men will be celebrated only when every Indian will make their life their ideal, make their dreams come true and we will do the same as the great men wanted to build India.
